About Us

My photo
We are the Pomario Family and we used to live in Johannesburg, South Africa. On the 10 July 2009 at 8.05 our little family grew to 3 when our precious daughter Natalia was born. We were blessed that she had chosen us to be her parents and we were privileged to have her in our lives. We believe she is here to teach us many lessons and give us plenty of joy. We relocated to Australia in April 2011. These are our stories……

Baby Acne

Anticipating the injections today
Yes, you heard right. Natalia has acne. She went for her 6 week check-up with the Pead on Monday. We Kim and I thought that she had severe eczema on her face, but no, its seems to be acne. Shame, my gorgeous girl did not look that gorgeous for a while. The pimples were all over - cheeks, forehead, head, back of ears, neck - all over I tell you. Luckily the cream she's been prescribed it helping and it looking 100% better, only her little cheeks have a couple of red dry spots now. Other than that, she weighs a whopping 5.3kg and is 56cm long and is totally healthy.

I also went for my 6 week check-up on Monday and the gynae says that I'm doing just great as well and has given us the go ahead to start trying again from November. We don't want Natalia to be without a brother or sister for too long.....

Today is D-Day. I am about to take Natalia for her 6 week vaccinations, so I am not looking forward to her screaming and fever that comes with it..........

Above are pics for Granny. She is always asking for them. Hope you enjoy.

Natalia Is Going To School

Yes, you heard right!
Natalia has been enrolled in Trinityhouse College starting in 2014. She'll be 4 years old and in Grade 00.
Can you believe that in our area, if you want your child to go to a good school, you need to put down a deposit now already to secure your spot. Trinityhouse is a private school starting from Grade 00 all the way to Matric. Kim and I went to their Open Day recently and we like the school and their ideas and principles so we hope she'll be happy there too..........
So there you go..........

Happy Birthday Mister Malakai.

My sweet nephew turned 1 on the 8 August and we had an awesome day to celebrate this huge milestone. See pics above.........

The cake decor was made by my mother in-law Sheila and I put the letters and teddy on the cake. The cake was made by a lady known as no.10 from my local home industry shop. mmm, the cake turned out great and was really tasty.

Thanks to Loren and Darryl for a wonderful day spent celebrating Malakai's big day.

Happy 4 Weeks Old GG

Hanging with Mrs Giraffe

Playing with my toys

Chilling time
On our way to the clinic to get weighed

Back home and passed out

Yay - my cord has finally fallen off

First bath without my cord
Natalia is 4 weeks old today and the time has flown by. Because I spend all day with her, I can't see the changes as much as someone else, but I can tell by her clothes that she is getting bigger and longer. Most of her babygrows dont fit her anymore, and not because she is too big, but because she's too long. She measure 57cm now and weighs 4.63 kg now.
The nights are still tough because she cant sleep from the horrible cramps she gets and wide awake. Then in the days she sleeps like such a princess. I wish I could swop the 2 around; and its not from a lack of trying.
Anyway, above are some cute pics to keep you entertained.

Newborn Shoot - 25 July

Okay, here are the professional photos.......
Loren took them early morning on the 25 July, while there was natural light in our bedroom.
Thanks Loren!!! You are a fantastic photographer and you were able to capture a good couple of pictures before Natalia started fussing and getting tired. The window of opportunity is not that big hey!
Thanks plenty XXX

This is Lucy Dodgen

1 day old

1 week old with all her einas

This is the letter we received from her mom Linda:

Lucy was born just over a week ago with esophageal atresia. What this means is that her tummy and her mouth are not connected. She is missing almost 6 vertebrae worth of oesophagus - a long gap. This condition is often associated with other problems but in Lucy's case she is perfect in every other way. She does have an extra set of ribs though!
My attempt at explaining all the einas and tubes:
The big yellow tube is the feeding tube that goes directly into her stomach The cut down her front is the where they went in to put the feeding tube in The "lion sticker" is a heart rate monitor The white cord wrapped around her foot is measuring her oxygen saturation levels Her drip is in her head. They alternate between hands, feet and head to give the veins a break. She was getting glucose, protein and fats through the drip but these have slowly been reduced and she should be off the drip in a couple of days. She has also had an antibiotic (just in case) through this drip.
The tube in her nose goes down the back of her throat and is a constant suction which makes sure that saliva and secretions don't go into her lungs.
She is doing well and putting on weight nicely. She will stay in NNICU for the next 6 weeks or so, during which time we are hoping she will grow nicely and that the gap between her tummy and her throat is a bit smaller. The surgeon wants to reassess our options at that stage. Either
1) she will have grown nicely and the gap will be small enough to operate (unlikely)
2) she will have grown nicely and the surgeon will use a relatively new stretching technique to try and bring the two ends closer together which involves an op to put in "stretching stitches" and then another op to close the gap
3) we will leave her to grow some more and reassess again in another couple of weeks time.
Thank you so much to everyone for their incredible support during the longest week of our lives.
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers
Lots of love
Jarrod, Linda, Jack and Lucy

We are all keeping Lucy in our thoughts and prayers.
The Pomario Family send all our love and best wishes
