About Us

My photo
We are the Pomario Family and we used to live in Johannesburg, South Africa. On the 10 July 2009 at 8.05 our little family grew to 3 when our precious daughter Natalia was born. We were blessed that she had chosen us to be her parents and we were privileged to have her in our lives. We believe she is here to teach us many lessons and give us plenty of joy. We relocated to Australia in April 2011. These are our stories……

Down to Durban - and all

Family Pic

So, we all went to Durban on Wednesday last week to visit Granny Bugs. Natalia slept most of the way. It took her an hour to fall asleep and then it was lights out all the way there. We didn't even stop for a wee in case she woke up and we had to start all over again.

Granny lives in a really nice townhouse in Kloof and it was great to spend time with my Mom for a couple of days. Durban was really cold for the 4 days and I wish I had taken warmer clothes; luckily Natalia had clothes for all seasons just in case. We did a bit of shopping on Thursday and Friday and went to the Essenwood flea market on Saturday. We met with Kim's uncle Mike on Saturday morning for breakfast and later in the afternoon went to the beach to dip Natalia's feet in for the first time. And sadly Sunday morning we were off early for our long journey home again. Natalia slept most of the way home again, this time only taking half an hour to fall asleep, but we stopped for lunch (for her and us) and a nappy change.

Natalia has been really ratty since about Thursday and we think she is in the early stages of teething with a temperature every other afternoon and evening of about 37.3 to 37.5. Also she has got this rash that started on her tummy and neck and now covers her whole back and buttocks and today has spread to her arms and legs. This is of course worrying because the first thing that comes to mind is Measles. So off we went to the GP today and she's not sure what it is either, so we have some cream for her skin and antibiotics for her one ear that's also infected. We have to go back on Thursday for a follow-up visit. And on top of it all, Kim has also been ill since Thursday, so he went to the GP today as well and found out he has Pneumonia!

Other than that, I have decided to go back to work in 3 weeks time. I am not looking forward to the sleepless nights and still having to function at work. But luckily they've agreed to me working half-day so I can still be with Natalia a lot still.

Leigh

I love to bath

Natalia just loves her new Mr Cow that Granny Bugs gave her. It is a cow head on a very soft comfort blankie. This last week she has started grabbing things and bringing them up to her mouth so that she can taste and feel them. Also, Natalia loves bathing (swimming as we call it) which is excellent. I am really happy that she enjoys water and when she's old enough I will take her for swimming lessons. She also enjoys going to Moms & Babes classes, although today she was a little grumpy and fell asleep for most of the time. We are driving down to Durban on Wednesday to visit Granny Bugs and we cant wait. I just hope Natalia takes the long trip well and does not cry too much. Sitting in her car seat for that long is going to be trying!

12 Weeks Old GG

Shaking my favourite rattle

Hi All

I can't believe it's already 12 weeks ago Natalia entered our lives.... This Gorgeous Girl has changed our lives and we are so in love with her. Last night was the 1st time that she slept through and I hope the trend lasts. She has started to grip light things, like her favourite rattle. She weighs about 6.4kg now and is looking less babyish every day; her neck is getting stronger and we don't need to support it as much. Her 0-3 month clothes are fitting very well and she probably won't be wearing them for much longer; some items are already too small. I have already washed her 3-6 month clothes in preparation. She has been really lucky lately to have received some cute outfits from auntie and uncles from England and Canada. Natalia also talks a lot and her favourite word is 'ng-ge'. It might be from one of the African languages and we are not sure what it means yet. We went to 'surprise' visit Granny Sheila yesterday and spent a couple of hours there; went for a nice long walk and Maggie joined. Natalia starts Moms & Babes classes tomorrow and if we like them we will join for the term (9 weeks). Kim went crazy with the camera this morning and did a mini photo shoot with our GG. She is incredibly expresive and her smiles light up her big big eyes.......
Love to all
