Goodbye TT, Hello A

On the 9 January I had to bid farewell to my Audi TT. But it was time, for obvious reasons. I had her for 1.5 years and believe me, had many awesome Sunday Drives and mid-week dicing.

Before I get too big, Kim and I had to look around for a Mommy Mobile. We found an awesome A Class Merc, automatic nogal, for a good deal. Its very spacious, has a backseat (bonus) and space for a baby carseat - just what we need. Now we can start looking at producing a netball team - lol.

But seriously, my dear TTina, you will be missed.

My First Roast

Yesterday was the first time I attempted to cook a Sunday Roast for 7 people. I always regarded it as my Mother's job and a daunting one at that. But now that I am becoming a Mother myself I thought I better do it. Of course I called my Mom about 4 times through the entire process, but her pointers and tips were excellent. I also made the best crackling ever.

I wish you were here to enjoy it with us Mom!

My Expanding Belly - 13.1 weeks

Okay, so my normal clothes are beggining to get too tight so I have purchased some Maternity pants now. But can anyone tell my why they are always sooo long. Because we fall pregnant, doesn't mean we get any taller. Luckily, Kim's Mom can sew and has offered to take them all up for me. I think I will need to start wearing them in the next couple of weeks.

Names and Dates

WoW the last couple of days have been a rollercoaster of emotions. The worst was knowing that Baby was fine but there was a problem that could have lead to something that could harm her. The feeling of utter helplessness was terrible – We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers over the past couple of days.
Yes you have read correctly we have decided that Baby is a girl – We just hope that she has read the master plan. Speaking of Baby we are still debating names but more importantly we have checked that the date will not clash with the South African leg of the Tri-Nations, just the Aussies and New Zealanders !! Phew one week later and there could be a problem. We discussed naming Baby after whoever the captain of the SA squad is at the time and adapt the name to suit the sex… ie Victor would become Victoria. This seemed like a good idea until we discussed who could be in the line up, and the thought of naming our child Chilliegirl or Beastette did not go down too well and then how could we ever explain to our daughter why she is named after a pick up truck. I think common sense has prevailed and we have short list of names but you will have to wait to see what that name will be. After watching the South Africans finally defeat the Australians in Australia we might just name her Graham !!

Little Scare

The 5 January 2009 was my first day back at work since being on leave between Christmas and New Year. At about 10h30 I went for my umpteenth wee and was freaked out when I saw a lot of blood. What was happening? I phoned Dr Schulz's rooms immediately but nobody answered for about 20 minutes of trying, which freaked me out even more. Eventually someone answered and made an appointment for me at 12h30.

Eventually, Dr Schulz saw me 13h15 and admitted me into hospital. The bleeding was heavy, so I was put on a drip of Ventolin (used for asthma) which relaxes the placenta, stops the bleeding, and was prescribed various hormones to hopefully dissolve the blood clot. It worked eventually, but the following evening I started bleeding again, luckily a lot less this time, but thankfully it stopped again.

The Doctor called it *Subchorionic Bleeding, so I started reasearching it on the internet. He also said that my placenta was lying extremely low. We went for another scan yesterday and you were bouncing all over the place. Today is the 8 January and everything seems fine now, yay!!! No bleeding and I am also feeling better, overall and emotionally. I believe everything is going to be okay. I am waiting to be discharged now - I just want to go home and sleep in my own bed.

* Subchorionic Bleeding is when a blod clot develops between the placenta and uterus and bleeds. If the clot gets too big, it can push the placenta away from the uterine wall causing a miscarriage. So, if caught in time it should be okay, but if not it could be bad.

First Visit

After receiving the positive blood results, we had to wait 2 weeks for our first appointment, a long anxious wait.........

On the 10 December 2008 we went for our first visit and scan with the Gynae. Our original Gynae was off ill so we were assigned a new one, Dr Schulz. This was our oppotunity to see live pictures of the little person growing inside me. Kim and I kept on looking at each other in complete amazement, now knowing that this was for real. Seeing the little hearbeat was unreal. We got our first pics and had to send them out for everyone to see that evening. I also couldn't believe that this small little 'olive' was making so ill.............

We believe you are a girl. Lets see if we are right.

Kim and I decided to go on a Mini Honeymoon to the Eastern Transvaal the week after we got married, because everything is triple the price in December. So we are going to have our Proper Honeymoon at the end of January in Mauritius.

We can't wait!!!

Overjoyed Excitement

Kim and I found out 2 days before we go married on the 28 November that I was pregnant. What a shock, but complete happiness! We did not expect to get pregnant this fast. I had only been taking Folic Acid and the like for 1.5 months.

Kim wanted me to have a blood test because we were leaving for the Kruger Park the next Monday, and 'if' I was pregnant then I couldn't take Malaria tablets, so that prompted me to go and find out. So my dear sister, Loren, went with me to the Wilgeheuwel Hospital close by to have a blood test done. I had been feeling anxious, like I had butterflies, tense (because I was getting married soon), tired, moody, hungary, bloated - so when my Mom and I collected the positive blood results, everything was clear as day. I then realised why I couldn't pull my stomach in and I was due to wear a fitted wedding dress on the Friday.

I immediately went to the Gynae rooms to make an appointment. The Sister estimated that I was 6 and a bit weeks pregnant. The drive home was the longest ever - I couldn't wait to let Kim know face to face. The earliest appointment was for 10 December.

Wow, this is truly a miracle :)
