Impetigo

Have you heard of it? This is what Natalia has - it finally has a name and now we can treat it.

Impetigo (pronounced im-puh-TIE-go) is an infection of the surface of the skin, caused by staphylococcus ("staph") and streptococcus ("strep") bacteria. Impetigo is more common in children than in adults. It appears as small blisters or scabs, which then form yellow or honey-colored crusts. Impetigo is contagious, mostly from direct contact with someone who has it. Once it starts, impetigo often spreads to other parts of the body.

So our little girl is now on antibiotics and has a antibiotic cream applied to the area. It is still spreading though and new spots are appearing on her side and right arm. The doctor said that if after 3 days there is no shrinkage and improvement, then we have the take her back. Hold thumbs that the medication works........

Mysterious Bite ??

I was shocked tonight when I saw this on Natalia's back!

I first noticed she had a little 'mosquito' bite on her back on Sunday night when we bathed her. But its looking progressively worse, it grown much bigger and now there are 'baby' blisters around the bite that are growing and multiplying too, so now I am worried. Maybe its more serious than I thought..... I have made an appointment for 8am with the doctor already.

She seems fine though - no fever etc.

The mystery is what bit her? A spider

702 Walk The Talk

Natalia, Kim & Granny Sheila did the 8km walk today at Marks Park in Joburg. I dropped them off early at 8am to get to the start line by 9am. I was told 'they will never do this again'. The walk was very disappointing - there were too many people and it was like walking in a busy shopping mall and not being able to get anywhere. A wise person once told me - PRAMS TROLLEYS AND FAT PEOPLE. It was a little like that; frustrating!!!

Lucy's Party

We went to Lucy's 1st birthday party today - she turns 1 on the 27 July. She was dressed so cutely in her Tinky Winky outfit!

Lucy had her operation about a month ago. The doctors moved her stomach up into her chest to connect it to her very short oesophogus. She has started eating solids for the first time but drinking is very difficult for her because she needs to learn to suck. She tiny though, only weighing 7.5kg

We all wish Lucy a fantastic 2nd year.

Another Party

We went to another 1st birthday party on Saturday for Suriyana. We met her at Moms & Babes and her birthday on the 13 July. You can tell Natalia loved the cake! But that's the last - no more sugar for her. She didnt sleep that night!

Florida Walk

Kim and Natalia woke up early this morning to go for a 5km Fun Walk just up the road in Florida. Natalia loves going for walks and this was a father daughter morning, while Mom read and caught up on some TV.

I think there needs to be more father daughter outings in the future - hint xxx

My Baby is ONE

I can't believe that my little light is ONE! It's incredible how a year has flown by.

We started the day off early to open some pressies. We had to help her, cause she didn't know what was going on. Then at about 2pm everyone started arriving at our house to join in the celebrations. We had about 45+ people and we were blessed with fantastic winter weather. Natalia was spoilt rotten as expected and received many gifts - we want to thank family and friends that came and were so generous! Also, we want to thank those who couldn't make it, but were with us in thought, and sent gifts from far and overseas!

We went to 2 1st birthday parties this weekend.
On Saturday was little Cole's 1st birthday party, he'll be turning 1 on the 7th.
On Sunday was little Gregory's 1st birhtday party, he'll be turning 1 on the 6th.
